Chef Jeffrey Winer has opened the Market Gourmet @ Montrose, with specialty foods and a carryout cafe.

His menu is full of soups, sandwiches and salads, including a Create-a-Salad from a list of several dozen ingredients. The market also sells wine.

Signature items include Winer’s onion soup, market Thai salad, tarragon chicken salad and California chicken sandwich.

In addition to tasty meals, The Market Gourmet will carry delish food items from some of the best gourmet treat makers around, such as Vosges Haute Chocolate, Saltistry gourmet salts, Lake Erie artisan cheese, Cowgirl Creamery, Plush Puffs Gourmet Marshmallows and more! The best part – they do tastings and samplings.

What makes it grown up? Cointreu (!) and decadent ingredients such as cream and bittersweet dark chocolate. Add some more elegance with Plush Puffs Gourmet Marshmallows and you have a dessert worthy of a fancy dinner party. Go to the site for ingredients and instructions. In addition to the marshmallow selection, we have one more suggestion – instead of topping the s’more with the second cookie and THEN putting in the oven to melt the marshmallows, put them in the broiler without the second cookie to get the marshmallows toasty as well as melty.  Then top with the second cookie. Try and enjoy!

Wow! These look amazing and yummy and couldn’t be easier. Thanks to the simple instructions and beautiful pictures on Greateatswithpetes.com these cupcakes are a must do for fun or for a party. The blog suggests serving them at a backyard BBQ – sounds perfect! I’m going to try these with our Toasty Coconut Plush Puffs gourmet marshmallows and dark chocolate chips.  Can’t wait to eat them.

Added bonus, we found this recipe in my favorite way – through the magic of social media. The blog search RSS feed I set up found it on  Easydeliciousrecipes.com which found it via Cupcakes Take The Cake which found it on Great Eats With Petes’ Flickr site which led them to the actual recipe. Thank you intertubes!!

Our chef-in-chief, Ann, has a number of great hot cocoa recipes up her sleeve, some of which we’ve shared here on this blog (look for more to come!).

But we marshmallow lovers also work hard so we need our coffee – and fast. We have come to LOVE our Keurig single-cup coffee maker. There are lots of coffee choices so all tastes, and caffeine levels, can be satisfied quickly and with no waste. This event sounds like so much fun I think there will be a fight over who gets to work the event.  Some of our favorite famous Los Angeles food trucks will be there (Flying Pig Truck, Fresser’s Hot Pastrami, and Qzilla BBQ).  And we can’t wait to find out more about what “hoop dance” is, be wowed by Zen Arts LA and wash it all down with some Pinky Vodka.
